Question: Who is Trade Winds Citrus Limited and what do they do?
Answer: Trade Winds Citrus is a vertically integrated agri-business that specializes in citrus products and juices. Located in Bog Walk, St. Catherine, they own a plant nursery, citrus groves, a packing house, juice plant and 3 juice brands. They are a privately owned family operated business.


Question: What is the quality statement of the business?
Answer: Trade Winds Citrus limited is committed to satisfying the expectations of its stakeholders (customers, employees, shareholders) by delivering products of consistent quality in compliance with the appropriate standards. This commitment shall be accomplished and maintained by implementing the following principles:

The aim is to get it right the first time, every time and strive for continuous improvement.


Question: Where does the company source its raw material?
Answer: Our products are made from as much Jamaican materials as possible. However if materials are not available, we source from Caricom countries, the USA and the rest of the world.


Farm - FAQs


Question: What factors are considered when deciding where to plant citrus?
Answer: Citrus grows best in clay loam soils at a temperature range of 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit with an average rainfall of 60 to 65 inches per year. Citrus trees do not like “wet feet” so well drained, gently sloping lands are best suited. The Bog Walk area satisfies all these requirements.


Question: On the farms, do you have problems with pests and diseases? If so, please name the most common?
Answer: Slugs, snails, leaf miners, scales, fiddler beetles, ants, caterpillars, mites, brown citrus aphid [which transmits citrus tristeza virus(CTV)], gummosis and footrot.
